Hello WHONET users,
How many installations of WHONET have there been in the world and where are the areas of greatest use? What are future plans for the use of this application and features that it may have in the future?

Thanks for the message. You pose a very good question. Because WHONET is available free-of-charge by download from the WHO website, we do not have precise statistics on how many WHONET users there are. In the past, we have distributed periodic questionnaires on WHONET use. Through these questionnaires, we have the impression that WHONET is used in over 90 countries, and is used to support surveillance activities in over 1200 hospital, public health, food, and veterinary laboratories.
This does not mean that WHONET is installed in all of these laboratories. In several cases, a central national laboratory uses WHONET to manage the data for the national network with data submitted in a variety of formats.
Through this new website, we will establish a database and questionnaires to help us better track WHONET use around the world.
